A SINGLE FLOWER

While walking in the valley
I heard a lone flower whisper, " Come.. please do
I have a gift to share with you----------"
Hastily did I run to that lonely little flower
My shadow falling over it
Above its tiny self I stood like a tower.

"Come down here! Come closer to me
I really would like to share my gift with you
But as life would have it
I can barely see above your knee."

Gently lowing myself down
careful not to smash to nothingness
The single little flower growing from the ground
I ask "Lonely little flower what gift do you have for me?
Did I not lower myself to receive................."
"Did you?" asked the flower.
"Did you ?" before being carried off by a gusty breeze.

The hour is almost here
when we celebrate
The coming in of the new year...
May the new year find the world at peace,
Filled with a new determination
To work together for the benefit of all mankind.
Happy New Year!

I Am Just Passing Through

A minute in the quite of night finds me
With a memory of you clutched tightly to my heart;
And for that short sweet essence of time
the world stands still for my tears to fall
on the memories in my mind.
As I morn for times past and things
gone, never to return to me in this life time.
I remember how life was without feeling
such a void in my life . . .
I remember in that one minute a million moments
filled with laughter, tears
hard times, and happy years;
I remember the time
When even the tears were a blessing
because I shared them with you . . .
And when another night comes I will again
turn to all the good memories
to find the strength, understanding, and courage
To live in a world, I am just passing through.

For The Wake of the Day is in my Soul

When nighttime comes I cannot sleep
I can only close my eyes
And ask the Lord my soul to keep
~For the wake of the day is in my soul.

When nighttime comes I look into the
darkness and see all things my life has been
All the roads that led to nowhere
When in time of weakness I blamed
others for my mistakes because not one
reached out a kind hand
~in my times of total despair;

And then there are the roads I followed
like a blind man in search of light,
that took me to the people in places
Who would after taking me into their hearts
Send me off again ~ with the memory of their
kind deeds
~and the looks of kindness on their faces....
Who I blame for any kindness that I myself
might let loose in the world;
For the wake of the day is in my soul,
Though nighttime touches my flesh
I like the blind man stumbling down a dark road
see and understand that there are far worse
things in store for those who have sight
~but cannot see.
When nighttime comes I cannot sleep
I can only close my eyes
And ask the Lord my soul to keep
~For the wake of the day is in my soul.

The Power of Love

My heart is filled with love
Sweeter than the sweetest rose
My spirit knows kindness
Giving way to good deeds and sheer delight
My Lord has given me the power
Has given me the insight
Has given me a shield of faith
To protect me from the master of night
Wisdom, knowledge, and understanding are mine
Unconditional love I will bring
Listen to the song I sing
Walk in the Light
Do not deny your heart
The Lord gives you power
To lay claim to the truest love
in your darkest hour
I hereby release my love out into the world
Touching you with the warmth of my spirit
Least you forget
where love first got its start
And why love has the magical power
to change lives and mend your
broken heart.
My heart is filled with love
Sweeter than the sweetest rose
My spirit knows kindness
Giving way to good deeds and sheer delight
My Lord has given me the power
Has given me the insight
Has given me a shield of faith
To protect me from the master of night
And I give love to you
that you may awake from your sin
And walk in the light again.

War With Demons

We are the creators,
the destroyer,
the builders of dreams
and weavers of illusions.

We create beauty only
to make it ugly;
We destroy only
to satisfy the desire
to conquer

With our dreams we tempt
better judgment
to reach out
for the unobtainable

With our own hearts
we deny love
Though love
Is the treasure we
have sought out
for a lifetime . . .

We are the survivors
Our love has been spent
in many places
And in our hearts
engraved the faces
of our truest loves.

But, who can tell
the emptiness
felt by each
but the heart
beating inside of me?

We create a world
known only to those
who dare believe
in the things
the eye
cannot see
And we
dare not believe.

Oh, world
Can you not
search your heart
and find understanding
that your soul might
find peace in the grave?

You have betrayed me
and left me to drown
in mine own tears

When I loved
you stole love from me
When I was hurting
you laughed at me
And cursed me
for caring

Leave me now
For all is lost
and I no longer
am fooled by
your sweet lies

Leave me now
I say, for there
is nothing more
you can take from me

My heart
is spread out
over the years
And now I wait
for what lay ahead
and tremble

For my life is
almost spent
and though the battles
have been many
There awaits
Another evil
And another war
with demons
that shall determine
man's fate.

Once, Before I Knew Your Name

Once, you were only a dream that I clung to,
Not sure if my dream would come true

Once, I could only imagine the sound of your
voice speaking words of love to me,
For, you lived ~ only~ in the thoughts
Inside of me . . .

Once, before I even knew your name ~ I loved
you.

And, now that I have you in my life,
And have heard my name fall from your lips,
I no longer dream of loving you
You are my dream come true . . .

Before I knew your name, I loved you.

Teacher

We are each a teacher of men
What we allow others to see in our self
is what they will see in the world.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is not here yet
and all that tomorrow will bring
I must believe, and not forget,
depends on how I live my today,
and whether or not I dare to dream
for the things that would bring
peace in my waking reality . . .

For, while hope lives in every tomorrow
The strength to succeed can only
live in each today.

Faith alone will go nowhere.
