Mississippi inmates in an attempt to discover a cure for the
disease. Goldberger and the "Pellagra Germ"
Joseph Goldberger's theory on pellagra contradicted commonly-held
medical opinions. The work of Italian investigators as well as
Goldberger's own observations in mental hospitals, orphanages, and
cotton mill towns, convinced him that germs did not cause the
disease. In such institutions, inmates contracted the disease, but
staff never did. Goldberger knew from his years of experience
working on infectious diseases that germs did not distinguish
between inmates and employees. Lombroso had speculated that spoiled
maize caused pellagra.
Goldberger found no evidence for that hypothesis, but diet certainly
seemed the crucial factor. Shipments of food which Goldberger had
requested from Washington were provided to children in two
Mississippi orphanages and to inmates at the Georgia State Asylum.
Results were dramatic; those fed a diet of fresh meat, milk and
vegetables instead of a com-based diet recovered from pellagra.
Those without the disease who ate the new diet did not contract
Experimenting on Mississippi Prisoners
Critics, many unable to part from the germ theory of pellagra,
raised doubts. Goldberger hoped to squelch those reservations by
demonstrating the existence of a particular substance that when
removed from the diet of healthy individuals resulted in pellagra.
With the cooperation of Mississippi's progressive governor, Earl
Brewer, Goldberger experimented on eleven healthy volunteer
prisoners at the Rankin State Prison Farm in 1915. Offered pardons
in return for their participation, the volunteers ate a corn-based
diet. Six of the eleven showed pellagra rashes after five months.
Expert dermatologists made the actual diagnosis of pellagra to avoid
the appearance of a conflict of interest on Goldberger's part.
Although many scientific colleagues sang Goldberger's praises, even
mentioning a Nobel nomination, others still doubted. In the pages of
the Journal of the American Medical Association, critic W.J. MacNeal
challenged the results. One Birmingham physician referred to the
experiment as "half-baked." Still others thought the whole
experiment a fraud.

The Tuskegee Syphilis Study. In recent history, we have seen the
influence of occult population control advocates here in America.
Nowhere is that influence better demonstrated than in the Tuskegee
Study, a scientific research program in which 400 syphilis-infected
black men were recruited by the U.S. Public Health Service back in
1932. The participants were all told that they would be treated for
their infections, but instead of treating their illness, all
medicines were withheld. The black men were then actively prevented
from obtaining treatment elsewhere as their bodies, and the bodies
of their wives and children, were systematically ravaged by disease.
The evil men who conceived that Nazi-style study justified their
atrocity by alleging that scientists needed to learn how untreated
syphilis progressed in the human body. For a period of forty years,
between 1932 and 1972, the genocidal Tuskegee Study continued. It
was not until 1972, when one newspaper finally had the courage to
break the story to the public, that the Tuskegee Study was finally
terminated. The Population Control Agenda
The original lesson
about the infectious nature of these brain diseases ("mad cow
disease" or bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in cattle, and
Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) in humans) came from a 1934 vaccine
catastrophe in the UK which brought scrapie, or "mad sheep disease",
to almost 5,000 out of 18,000 lambs within two years of their
immunization against louping-ill virus infection.
Tracing back, scientists discovered that the vaccine serum was
prepared from a number of lambs whose dams had subsequently
developed scrapie, but the significance of scrapie passing
vertically from ewes to their lambs, and horizontally from lamb to
lamb by virtue of the vaccine injections, was kept from
international eyes by a series of egotistical carry-ons which
prevented the data from reaching the pages of the scientific
literature for a further 15 years.

What they did instead was to offer immunity to would-be war

Veterans Disclose Germ Weapons Tests on Chinese
Some Japanese military veterans recently confessed to a visiting
Chinese delegation that they conducted germ warfare experiments on
live Chinese during World War II.
Most of these revelations provided convincing evidence of Japanís
war crimes in China, said Shi Jiaxing, head of the four-man
delegation from northeast China's Harbin, where the world's largest
germ warfare experimental base is located.
Yoshio Shinotsuka, a former member of Unit 731, a Japanese military
division notorious for its germ laboratory in China, said that he
participated in an experiment during which five innocent and healthy
Chinese were used as "material" for a test on plague bacteria.
"Before we injected the plague into these people, four of the
Chinese were given plague vaccines we developed from different
sources," Shinotsuka said.
One month later, laboratory tests on their blood showed that the one
not vaccinated were the first to be infected with the bacteria.
"After that, we dissected and gutted them alive," said Shinotsuka,
admitting it was the first time that he had told this publicly.
In describing a field test of bacterial weapons in China, another
veteran surnamed Obara, also a member of Unit 731, said, "When
airdropped germ bombs exploded among Chinese test subjects tied fast
onto crosses, I could see their pain as their faces became gradually
Obara said that he had participated in a total of seven such field
tests in the city of Anda, in northeast China's Heilongjiang
"Unit 731 experimented in the culture, research and testing of
bacteria such as anthrax, cholera, the plague and typhoid fever,"
said former officer Kansuke Morioka.
He recalled that one Chinese was cut open with a scapel from neck to
abdomen by a military surgeon surnamed Izu.
Those who were dissected alive lost consciousness gradually, said a
veteran surnamed Yuasa.
He still remembered one operation he participated in, during which
he was responsible for sawing bones and incising tracheae.
According to Yuasa, the dissected Chinese claimed to be a soldier

Currently, Chinese researchers have found more than 1,200
evidentiary items from the remains of the slaughterhouse in Harbin,
including syringes, high-pressure boilers used to destroy germs and
the vestiges of germ bombs.
Experts estimated that as part of Japan's Kwantung Army, with
headquarters in Harbin, Unit 731 experimented on more than 10,000
prisoners of war and civilians from China, the Korean Peninsula,
Mongolia, and the former Soviet Union.
During World War II, more than 100,000 deaths were caused by the
germ warfare experiments launched by the Japanese, mostly in China.
Although 5,570 Japanese war criminals were indicted by the allied
countries at the end of the war, none of them were tried for
participating in germ weapons research.
The Kwantung Army headquarters burned and buried the records of Unit
731 in an attempt to get rid of evidence before Japan surrendered on
August 15, 1945, leaving historians to rely on the personal accounts
of the less than 300 living veterans to piece together the story.
To meet the veterans willing to tell the truth and to collect
evidence of crimes of the Japanese Army during World War II, Shi and
his delegation have visited many Japanese cities including Nagoya,
Osaka, Kochi and Tokyo.

One chapter of the report, 'The Fluorescent Particle Trials',
reveals how between 1955 and 1963 planes flew from north-east
England to the tip of Cornwall along the south and west coasts,
dropping huge amounts of zinc cadmium sulphide on the population.
The chemical drifted miles inland, its fluorescence allowing the
spread to be monitored. In another trial using zinc cadmium sulphide,
a generator was towed along a road near Frome in Somerset where it
spewed the chemical for an hour.
While the Government has insisted the chemical is safe, cadmium is
recognised as a cause of lung cancer and during the Second World War
was considered by the Allies as a chemical weapon.
In another chapter, 'Large Area Coverage Trials', the MoD describes
how between 1961 and 1968 more than a million people along the south
coast of England, from Torquay to the New Forest, were exposed to
bacteria including e.coli and bacillus globigii , which mimics
anthrax. These releases came from a military ship, the Icewhale,
anchored off the Dorset coast, which sprayed the micro-organisms in
a five to 10-mile radius.
The report also reveals details of the DICE trials in south Dorset
between 1971 and 1975. These involved US and UK military scientists
spraying into the air massive quantities of serratia marcescens
bacteria, with an anthrax simulant and phenol.
Similar bacteria were released in 'The Sabotage Trials' between 1952
and 1964. These were tests to determine the vulnerability of large
government buildings and public transport to attack. In 1956
bacteria were released on the London Underground at lunchtime along
the Northern Line between Colliers Wood and Tooting Broadway. The
results show that the organism dispersed about 10 miles. Similar
tests were conducted in tunnels running under government buildings
Experiments conducted between 1964 and 1973 involved attaching germs
to the threads of spiders' webs in boxes to test how the germs would
survive in different environments. These tests were carried out in a
dozen locations across the country, including London's West End,
Southampton and Swindon. The report also gives details of more than
a dozen smaller field trials between 1968 and 1977.
In recent years, the MoD has commissioned two scientists to review
the safety of these tests. Both reported that there was no risk to
public health, although one suggested the elderly or people
suffering from breathing illnesses may have been seriously harmed if
they inhaled sufficient quantities of micro-organisms.
However, some families in areas which bore the brunt of the secret
tests are convinced the experiments have led to their children
suffering birth defects, physical handicaps and learning
David Orman, an army officer from Bournemouth, is demanding a public
inquiry. His wife, Janette, was born in East Lulworth in Dorset,
close to where many of the trials took place. She had a miscarriage,
then gave birth to a son with cerebral palsy. Janette's three
sisters, also born in the village while the tests were being carried
out, have also given birth to children with unexplained problems, as
have a number of their neighbours.
The local health authority has denied there is a cluster, but Orman
believes otherwise. He said: 'I am convinced something terrible has
happened. The village was a close-knit community and to have so many
birth defects over such a short space of time has to be more than
Successive governments have tried to keep details of the germ
warfare tests secret. While reports of a number of the trials have
emerged over the years through the Public Records Office, this
latest MoD document - which was released to Liberal Democrat MP
Norman Baker - gives the fullest official version of the biological
warfare trials yet.
Baker said: 'I welcome the fact that the Government has finally
released this information, but question why it has taken so long. It
is unacceptable that the public were treated as guinea pigs without
their knowledge, and I want to be sure that the Ministry of
Defence's claims that these chemicals and bacteria used were safe is
The MoD report traces the history of the UK's research into germ
warfare since the Second World War when Porton Down produced five
million cattle cakes filled with deadly anthrax spores which would
have been dropped in Germany to kill their livestock. It also gives
details of the infamous anthrax experiments on Gruinard on the
Scottish coast which left the island so contaminated it could not be
inhabited until the late 1980s.
The report also confirms the use of anthrax and other deadly germs
on tests aboard ships in the Caribbean and off the Scottish coast
during the 1950s. The document states: 'Tacit approval for simulant
trials where the public might be exposed was strongly influenced by
defence security considerations aimed obviously at restricting
public knowledge. An important corollary to this was the need to
avoid public alarm and disquiet about the vulnerability of the civil
population to BW [biological warfare] attack.'
Sue Ellison, spokeswoman for Porton Down, said: 'Independent reports
by eminent scientists have shown there was no danger to public
health from these releases which were carried out to protect the
'The results from these trials_ will save lives, should the country
or our forces face an attack by chemical and biological weapons.'
Asked whether such tests are still being carried out, she said: 'It
is not our policy to discuss ongoing research.'
