|25-year-old hangs self after kin disapproves of fiance

COIMBATORE: A 25-year-old man working at UK based Barclays bank in Chennai, committed suicide by hanging at his girlfriend's residence at Arignar Anna Colony near SIDCO here in the city on Sunday. Police claimed that he took the extreme measure as his parents refused to approve his intention of marrying his girlfriend. He came to Coimbatore from Chennai three days ago, to celebrate his girlfriend's birthday.
The deceased S Krishnamoorthy met his girlfriend who is one year his junior while studying at a private matriculation higher secondary school at Karamadai few years ago. He belonged to Gowder community and the girl is a Roman Catholic.
He had completed his MBA after which he joined the bank in Chennai. Meanwhile, the girl also completed BDS and worked as a dentist here in the city. They used to meet once a week and the girl's mother got to know about their relationship. Although she approved of it, she asked Krishnamoorthy to marry her daughter soon.
