|Marcela Perez de Alonso
Marcela Perez de Alonso is a member of the Board of Directors for City National Bank, with a mission to help guide the bank as it embarks on a five-year strategy focusing on controlled growth and diversification.
She also serves on the International Advisory Board of Fundacion Chile and on the Advisory Board of Start-Up Chile in Silicon Valley. Both Chilean organizations are looking for ways to bring projects that can foster innovation in Chile.
Perez de Alonso was the Executive Vice President of Human Resources for Hewlett-Packard Company where she served in this capacity for seven years.
In this capacity she had worldwide responsibility for HPís strategic human resources initiatives, practices and operations, supporting over 300,000 employees in more than 170 countries. She was also the Board Chair of the HP Company Foundation and a member of the board of HP Financial Services, the financing arm of HP.
Since joining HP in 2004, Perez de Alonso led a pivotal transformation to build a best-in-class HR organization that delivered value to HP employees while driving business results and growth. She had responsibilities for all HR programs and services focused on getting the right people in the right places at the right time to keep HP talent engaged and performing at optimal levels in order to achieve company and people goals.
Previously, a long-time executive at Citigroup, she held senior roles in both Operations and Human Resources including the lead HR role for Citibankís Global Consumer Business and the Business Division head of Citigroupís North Latin America Retail Bank. During the last five years, she worked in the Consumer Banking Commercial area, with four years as Head of the Northern Latin America Division that oversaw the operations of Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Dominican Republic, Bahamas and Puerto Rico.
Subsequently, she was the Product Manager of Savings and Current Accounts worldwide
Perez de Alonso has actively led and contributed to the evolution of the HR practice throughout her career. She was honored as the 2009 Human Capital Leader of the Year Award by the Society for Human Resources Management. In 2007, she was recognized with the Hunt-Scanlon Human Resources Leadership Award for accomplishments in driving bottom-line results through effective Human Capital Management.
Her professional involvement includes serving with TECHO USA, which is dedicated to building emergency housing with volunteer students in Latin America. She has also been Chair of HP Company Foundation, which funds community education projects to help eliminate poverty. Further, she is a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business.
Perez de Alonso earned a degree in Psychology from Universidad Catolica de Chile. She has worked and lived in New York, Palo Alto, Miami, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Chile. She is married and has five children.
