I  Am An American
by Janice Sanford

No Flag but the American Flag will I fight and die under!

I am an American

.... Many years ago my French, and Irish ancestors craved to live,
and raise their families free........
They sailed the high seas to reach the shores of sweet Liberty.
They came in search of the American Dream. They were a people
who left their birth lands to adopt a new land sight unseen.
Many years ago my ancestors roamed free hunted for food and
played in the streams.
French, Indian, and Irish blood runs through my American veins.
I am an American from 'the melting pot' with ' American made'
stamped on my heart.

Because of my immigrant families' unselfishness and their desire not
just to come to America but to be American down to the
core, they left all alliance to their birth counties at freedom's door.

Many years ago my French, and Irish ancestors craved to live
and raise their families free........
They sailed the high seas to reach the shores of sweet Liberty.

Because of the love my ancestors had for their adopted land
and because of the patriotism their offspring nurtured inside of me
I will always be thankful as I hold old glory high
That my families chose to adopt for me
the Home of the brave the land of the free.

French, Indian, and Irish blood runs through my American veins.
I am an American from 'the melting pot' with ' American made'
stamped on my heart.
