KINGSTON, JAMAICA — Former Bank of Jamaica governor Headley Brown was found dead in his car with a single gunshot wound to the throat, police said Wednesday. Authorities said Brown apparently committed suicide. A firearm licensed to Brown was found in his lap. According to local press reports, Brown, 65, had incurred several debts he was unable to pay. Brown's body was found in his car, which was parked near Trinityville, a rural community in southeastern Jamaica where he grew up. Brown served as governor of the central bank from 1985 to 1989.
